Frequently Asked Questions

When Audrey Alderson placed her aunt in a senior care home she did her homework.  She toured the large assisted living facilities and thought they were cold and impersonal.  She kept looking until she found the network of smaller senior care homes.  These homes had fewer residents and provided a more home-like setting.  They provide a better ratio of staff to residents.   They can tailor meals since most are prepared on site.  To Audrey this seemed like a much better option.

After her aunt had lived in this type of home for awhile, Audrey noticed that while the physical needs of the residents were well met, their need for mental stimulation and social interaction didn't get the same level of attention.

Audrey's Angels was created to bring interactive entertainment to the seniors living in these senior care homes.  Our musicians, crafters and artists become part of an adult care home's regularly scheduled activities calendar.  Through music and art, they build relationships with the senior residents, enhancing their quality of life.

As  a non-profit 501(c)(3) our program is subsidized.  We provide program either free of charge for homes with low income residents and adult day care centers, or at a below market rate for small group homes with an entertainment budget.  Our creative approach puts an emphasis on the residents and recognizes the constraints of the homeowner.

Audreys Angels began in 2001, serving 9 homes with the services of 5 artists.  We have grown to serving 115 homes and 11 day care centers in 2007.  Our objectives for the program are to bring interactive entertainment into senior care homes, to do so on a weekly basis and to make the program affordable to the homeowners.

Audrey Bortner Alderson and husband Robert Alderson co-founded Audrey's Angels with the intention of touching the lives of the elderly.  Our program can evoke a wide range of positive physical and emorional responses in the elderly population.  Community support will make certain that it does.
